A total sum of $19.6 million has been allocated to the Attorney General’s Office for their 2016/2017 budget.
The Legal Aid Commission has been granted a sum of $5 million for the provision of basic legal services including legal presentation for clients who cannot afford private lawyers.
The Department of Civil Aviation received an allocation of $2.5 million in order to fund the operations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji.
Meanwhile, $1.9 million was given to the Domestic Air Service Subsidy Program while $0.2 million was granted for the preparatory works for the development of a new airport in Vanua Levu.
$0.3 million was allocated to fund the operations of the Media Industry Development Authority while $0.2 million has been allocated to the Fiji Intellectual Property Office and $0.1 million was allocated to the Constitutional Offices Commission.
Funding for the law reform and legal reviews included $0.1 million for the reviewing of the Copyright Act while $0.2 million was given to review the land lease arrangements.
$0.5 million has been given for the extension of Matei Airport in Taveuni.
