192 new women recruits stood tall and proud yesterday as they were officially welcomed in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
The pass out parade which was held at the Army Training Group camp in Nasinu saw 242 recruits reap the reward of 12 weeks of hard work.
Commander Brigadier General Mosese Tikoitoga says the reason for the high number of females in this intake is for the RFMF to conform to the UN requirement to have more females deployed to peacekeeping missions.
Tikoitoga says it is also to conform to the international standard of gender equality.
Meanwhile, Sunia Dianirova who was given the award for the best all round recruit dedicated his achievement to his 3 month old daughter.
His mother, Deni Dianirova was excited when she saw her son march up to receive his award.
