19 senior civil servants from Fiji recently participated in a ten day long China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong 2018 also known as CELAP 2018.
The China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong, which is funded by the Chinese Government, is an innovative leadership academy based in Shanghai, which provides a wide range of programs tailored for intermediate and senior government officials.
During the ten days, participants attended many lectures in which they learnt about how China had come through many challenges to become one of the most powerful and influential economies in the world.
These lectures were designed in order to expose the participants to a new way of thinking so they may further use this knowledge to benefit their country through their senior positions in their respective agencies.
The Academy also conducted field studies in Shandong Province for participants to experience China’s traditional Confucian culture, visited the Yangshan Deepwater Port in Shanghai, and had a case study of community building and grid management.
The organizers of CELAP have praised the CELAP 2018 participants saying the Fijian civil servants are active and attentive in their studies, punctual and rule‑abiding in daily life, and more importantly, they exhibited a strong sense of togetherness and highly prized their collective identity as Fijians.
