Minister for Education, Dr Mahendra Reddy has assured members of the public that the 181 schools that were damaged during Cyclone Winston will be built by the end of the year.
His comments comes after Opposition MP Salote Radrodro asked Dr Reddy in parliament on when the rebuilding of classrooms that were badly affected in Ra, Koro, Tailevu, Cikobia, Vanuabalavu and Yacata will get underway.
Dr Reddy said they have had qualified engineers assess the 181 schools and are now waiting to tender a few contractors to design the schools.
He added that they will announce the contractors in the next two weeks and will assign 10 to 20 schools to each contractor.
Dr Reddy said these schools also include the ones in the maritime areas.
