A total of 1,705 offenders were below the age of 18 in the last two years.
This was highlighted by the Deputy Police Commissioner Isikeli Ligairi at the Cadet Pass Out Parade for the Shreedhar Marahaj College yesterday.
Ligairi says offences committed by the juveniles range from offences such as crimes committed against lawful authority, crimes against public morality, crimes against persons and crimes committed against the crime decree.
Ligairi says young people because of ill-discipline end up on the wrong side of the law.
The Deputy Commissioner encouraged the students yesterday to stay on the right path with the discipline so that they do not add to the crime statistics.
He adds that the drills learnt and their sacrifice put over the past weeks will be an asset in their everyday life.
