17 Air Pac workers to be laid off

More than 15 workers based at the Air Pacific and Pacific Sun call centre in Nadi will be will be offered the opportunity to take up a limited number of roles within Air Pacific or be considered to join the independently owned global contact centre specialists, MindPearl.
The Managing Director John Campbell said that 17 staff in total work for the Call Centre and redundancy pay will be made to those who leave Air Pacific even if they decide to join MindPearl or not.
His comments came as Air Pacific and Pacific Sun have decided to outsource their telephone reservations services to MindPearl effective from 1st November this year.
Air Pacific's Managing Director John Campbell said that their current telephone reservations centres in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji will close and all reservation calls from these three countries will be routed to Mindpearl 24 hours, 7 days in Suva throughout the year.
