A total of 160 cases of smuggling of undeclared goods into Fiji have been reported by the customs and border control authorities from 2007 to 2015.
This has been revealed by the Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while responding to the Opposition Whip Ratu Isoa Tikoca’s question on how many cases of smuggling of undeclared goods were reported in Fiji from 2006 to 2015.
Sayed-Khaiyum says it is unfortunate that no record was kept in 2006 as they only have the reports from 2007 to last year.
He says investigations have been carried out for the 160 cases and appropriate charges have been laid.
The items were also confiscated.
