The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation has recorded a total of 122 teenage pregnancy cases in the first eight months of this year.
This is the consolidated data from the Ministry of Women, the Ministry of Health and the Fiji Police Force.
From March and July this year the most number of cases were recorded from the Eastern division with 36 cases while 29 cases were recorded in the Central division.
Minister Rosy Akbar says they are aiming to increase awareness on women's reproductive health programs in the rural and remote areas.
Akbar also says parents play an important role and they should be vigilant on the whereabouts of their children and being able to communicate with their children.
She says the message must be very loud and clear to teenagers about the consequences of their actions.
