12 buses of S. Nair Transport sustained major damages in an early morning fire today.
S. Nair Transport Manager Ritesh Nair said the fire started at 3am in their garage in Wainibuku, 9 miles.
Nair said two security guards were in the garage when the fire started.
He added it will take them 6 months to get new buses however he stressed that their routes will not be affected.
Nair said the estimated cost of damage is more than $1 million.
Meanwhile, National Fire Authority’s CEO John O’Connor confirmed that the five fire trucks attended the incident this morning and they were able to control the fire from spreading to the nearby building.
O’Connor added that when the team arrived at the scene, a number of buses were on fire.
Investigations have started to establish the cause of fire.
