114 new wheelchairs worth $17,500 has been donated to the Ministry of Health by a charity organisation.
Acting Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services, Bernadette Welch officiated at the handover of the wheelchairs by the Saroj Care Fiji Incorporated.
The charity organisation based in Australia had held fundraisers to purchase the wheelchairs.
Welch says last year the Saroj Care Fiji Incorporation had also donated a container full of wheelchairs for the CWM Hospital, $1,500 worth of food packs for the victims of Tropical Cyclone Winston and three laptops to high achieving underprivileged students.
The Ministry of Health has confirmed that they will distribute the wheelchairs according to where they are needed most.
The Saroj Care Fiji Incorporated is a charity that provides relief and assistance to the poor and needy in Fiji and hosts annual fundraisings in Australia for its charitable initiatives.
