A total of 1,074 traffic infringement notices were issued over the Easter Weekend.
This was highlighted by Director of Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra adding that despite continuous awareness there were 655 cases of speeding and 419 running offences recorded over the long weekend.
Mishra states that 22 arrests were made for drunk and driving of which eight were from the Western Division and 14 were from the Southern Division.
He stressed drivers need to understand that if they make a simple mistake on the road they can take innocent lives on the road.
