Since the deployment of the 95 new E‑ticketing officers, the Land Transport Authority has issued 103 Tax Traffic Infringement Notices.
Bus companies have also been issued infringement notices for not having disposable cards in their buses as it is a requirement under the law for bus operators that the disposable cards are available for purchase by passengers.
LTA Board Chairman Vijay Maharaj says the deployment of the officers is an example of LTA’s commitment to ensuring the E‑ticketing system is in practice without any disturbances.
Out of the 103 people that were fined, 73 were from the Central and Eastern Division, 13 from the Western and 17 from the Northern Division.
The offences varied from paying other person’s fares with the use of a subsidized card which was most prevalent in the Northern Division.
Other offences include passengers travelling without tapping their E-cards and drivers not charging the correct fares.
LTA continues to urge people to contact them if they see anyone not following the law.
