A 1-year-old boy is currently admitted in a critical condition at the Lautoka Hospital.
It is alleged the mother of the victim fell asleep while driving which resulted in the vehicle veering of the road and landing in a drain along Queens Road near Natabua.
Both parents are admitted for observation in stable condition while their son is in critical condition.
The Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra says drivers must be mindful of the need to always get adequate rest so that accidents such as this can be avoided.
Mishra says that if you feel you've had a long day and are feeling fatigued, then don't risk getting in the driver's seat as it could affect your driving.
Meanwhile Mishra added saying that driver fatigue is often underestimated, and people need to stop putting themselves at risk.
