A woman died while eight other people are admitted in hospital after three separate road accidents in the Western Division.
The 46-year-old woman died in an accident in Viseisei, Lautoka yesterday morning after she was thrown out of a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old.
Police say the driver and two other passengers fled the scene but were arrested an hour later.
The driver is now in custody.
The post mortem is expected to be conducted today.
Meanwhile, eight people are admitted in hospital after sustaining injuries in two separate road accidents near Sigatoka over the weekend.
Police say in both accidents, the driver lost control of the vehicle which resulted in a head on collision.
A pregnant woman was involved in the second accident and is admitted at the Lautoka Hospital.
The road death toll currently stands at 19 compared to 28 for the same period last year.
