Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama has raised concerns about people spreading lies about the Health Ministry on social media.
While speaking at the ground breaking ceremony of the CWM Hospital’s New Maternity Unit extension, Bainimarama says he is deeply troubled by some postings on social media by some people who use fake profiles and used the tragic death of some patients in Fijian Hospitals to tell disturbing lies of what happened to them, all to attack the medical staff.
He says the loss of a loved one is an incredibly emotional time for any family adding there are people out there who are trying to take advantage of these tragedies for their own agenda.
He has urged Fijians to pause and think before they share the sort of information on social media.
He adds when there are real issues, his government has systems and people in place to step in and do what is needed to be done adding people can report issues on 157.
Bainimarama says getting on social media and spreading lies is never ok.
