The Fiji Cancer Society has received a Toyota Hilux through a joint venture with Asco Motors.
With cancer responsible for 10% of deaths in Fiji annually, the society has been finding it hard to travel around the country to spread their message and even taking a taxi at times to run their operation.
The cost of the vehicle is $72,000.
Society board member Inoke Bainimarama says this donation will help them increase their service to their patients around the country.
He adds they are in the process of trying to finalise a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Health which will allow them to strengthen the work they do in the society.
He adds that over 1,200 new cases of cancer are recorded annually in Fiji.
Meanwhile, Fiji Cancer Society CEO Belinda Chan is encouraging the public to join the Pink Walk on the 30th of this month before the launch of Pinktober next month.
