1,312 people of Taveuni are the latest recipient of Government’s Micro and Small Business Grant.
While speaking at the disbursement, Minister for Industry Faiyaz Koya says that the Fijian Government has invested approximately $2.5 million into the economy of Taveuni.
He adds that from next week, they will be disbursing micro and small business grants in Savusavu, Nabouwalu and Seaqaqa.
Koya says that the government will continue to empower people to start new businesses or take existing businesses to another level. Koya also highlighted that the total businesses supported in Taveuni since 2015 through the grant is 2,539.
Koya also stressed that micro, small and medium enterprises are powerful forces for lifting people out of poverty and many of those who succeed can not only provide for themselves and their families but can provide employment for others and contribute to the national economy.
Through this programme, 28,004 micro and small entrepreneurs have been assisted, impacting the lives of 140,020 Fijians, with the Fijian Government’s investment of $26.4 million.
