With a new school year starting today, a Year 6 student is thanking the Prime Minister for his back to school message saying she has been motivated to do well in school this year.

10-year-old Ameera Azraa Abdul who attends Lautoka Muslim Primary School says she is very happy that her single mother does not have to worry about paying for her textbooks and school fees.

It is also a very happy day for Ameera’s 50-year-old mother Um Hadiba who says she had struggled a lot to raise and support her older son’s education.

Hadiba says she is fortunate to have witnessed the initiatives given by this government and says that students should be motivated by this.

In his message, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said that he always believed that funding our children’s education is the single best investment a government can make.

The Prime Minister says taking responsibility for your education means respecting and listening to your teachers and means being kind to your classmates.

Bainimarama says it means putting your best foot forward, working hard, reading, studying and asking questions.
