Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and SODELPA Leader, Sitiveni Rabuka

SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka says he knows that his past will come up but he has just moved on.

Back in the 1990s, when Rabuka was Prime Minister and SVT leader, there were reports of Rabuka committing adultery and then asking for forgiveness from his wife and the party.

This comes after Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum hit out at the opposition during the National Budget response adding that there has been so much racism in parliament and the level of hypocrisy is a serious concern.

While responding to SODELPA MP, Ro Kiniviliame Kiliraki’s concern on no reference to God in our constitution, Sayed-Khaiyum says section 22 of the constitution states that every person has the right to freedom of religion, conscience and belief.

Sayed-Khaiyum says with God mentioned in the previous constitution, the leadership of the SVT and some MPs from the SDL broke their marriage vows every night or on a weekly basis.

When questioned by Fijivillage on the issue about Sayed-Khaiyum raising the issue regarding hypocrisy and the SVT leadership breaking the marriage vows every night or on a weekly basis, Rabuka said Sayed-Khaiyum should have just confined the comments to how Rabuka managed Fiji as the Prime Minister at the time.

Fijivillage asked Rabuka how he will deal with the issue of him committing adultery while holding the prime ministership back in the 1990s, knowing that this was already public at the time and will come back as an issue.

Rabuka says he knows there is no escape but he will focus on today and the future.
