The National Federation Party has revealed that it will call a meeting of all chiefs in the country in the first 100 days in office if the NFP forms the next government.
NFP President, Tupou Draunidalo has revealed to about 500 supporters who attended the party’s manifesto launch at Khatri Hall that the chiefs will be called in to discuss issues relating to the i-Taukei and include matters like the reinstatement of the Great Council of Chiefs.
Draunidalo says the NFP will always respect the i-Taukei culture, the church, land related issues, the GCC and the i-Taukei Administration.
She says the founders of NFP have always believed that Fiji will progress well if the country has strong and upstanding i-Taukei people.
Draunidalo said sometimes people tend to blame other races for the problems of the i-Taukei.
The NFP President said people should only look at themselves and not blame others for their actions.
Draunidalo reveals that another issue that has been raised by people in the NFP campaign meetings is whether the party should follow the People’s Charter, the Decrees and the 2013 constitution.
She said the party has told the people that this is the result of breaking the law.
Draunidalo said the law that NFP knows is the one that was passed democratically in parliament.
The NFP President said the party’s stand is also clear that it will not use the Compulsory Acquisition Order for any i-Taukei land.
Meanwhile the NFP proposed candidates led by Draunidalo and leader, Professor Biman Prasad made a campaign visit to the island of Bau last night.
They were received there by Roko Tui Bau, Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi and Bau chief, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau.
