Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism has brought a new Water Meter Test Bench worth over $1 million which will independently verify and certify water meters ensuring an accurate billing system.

Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the commissioning of the Water Meter Test Bench shows that Fiji is on its way to the next stage of development.

Sayed-Khaiyum says it is important to separate the supplier from the regulator.

Sayed-Khaiyum says changes are also in the pipeline for the Fiji Electricity Authority.

He adds it may look like a simple machine but in fact symbolically it is a huge game changer.

He says it signals to the rest of the country and the Pacific that we are making sure we have good standards.

The government funded the purchase of this machine which was brought in from Italy 2 weeks ago.
