Three teachers from a boarding school in Tailevu have been transferred to other schools as the Education Ministry and the Police now look at a case of the operation of an alleged cult group run by a nearby villager.
Fijivillage has received information that some students had gone with a few teachers to the bushes outside the school compound for an alleged cult activity organized by the villager.
Education Minister Doctor Mahendra Reddy says they have addressed the issue and the teachers have been moved from the boarding school.
Doctor Reddy believes that appropriate action has been taken by the ministry.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirms that they had sent some officers to the school last week just to ensure peace was maintained as some students did not want to go back to school and did not want to return to class.
Police say that has been the extent of their involvement so far.
