A family of Nasinu today lost their youngest son in a horrific road accident on Kings Road near the Fiji dairy factory.

Fijivillage has been informed that like every Sunday, 25-year-old Kritesh Kumar, was on his way to open up his family car wash business at Flagstaff this morning when the tragic incident happened.

Kumar who was a tertiary student would have graduated this Friday and plans were in place for him to get married in two months.

Police spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirms he died on the spot when the vehicle he was driving hit a lamp post.

An eye witness told Fijivillage that after 8am the man was on his way to Suva from Nausori when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle which went off the road and hit a lamp post.

He was alone in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

He was trapped in the vehicle for about half an hour as the

National Fire Authority fire fighters tried to remove him from the vehicle which has been badly damaged.

The post mortem is expected to be conducted tomorrow.

Sokomuri said vehicle will also be inspected by the Land Transport Authority tomorrow.

Meanwhile, a man believed to be in his early 50s died this morning in a road accident in Nausori.

Police say around 6am the victim was walking on side of the road near Nausori District School when he was hit by a vehicle when the driver lost control.

The victim was wearing a green track pants with a green collared t-shirt and was holding a small transistor radio.

The driver of the vehicle is in police custody.

Police have requested members of the public to come forward to identify the victim.

Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is requested to call 9905600.
