Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili has told 22-year-old twin brothers Ratu Veiwili Loanakadavu and Ro Veidovi Loanakadavu that just because they are young they do not have the license to assault people.

The two who appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court for allegedly threatening to kill a group of Police officers have been granted bail.

It is also alleged that the two racially abused a Fijian officer of Indian descent.

Both are charged with drunk and disorderly behaviour and resisting arrest while Ratu Veiwili is charged with an additional count of serious assault.

Police say the two were arrested at 4am Friday along Victoria Parade by officers who were on patrol.

The two were allegedly intoxicated and were threatening to kill the Police officers and continued swearing despite being repeatedly warned and asked to clear the area.

The two allegedly confronted the officers and in the process damaged the accessory vest belonging to one of the arresting officers while verbally abusing another officer.

Police prosecutor Constable Priti Prasad objected to bail for Ratu Veiwili citing that Ratu Veiwili has a suspended sentence for a case of damaging property.

Both have been granted bail of $500 each with two sureties. Their father SODELPA MP Simione Rasova was present in court as one of the sureties.

The twins have been given strict instructions to report to Totogo Police Station daily and they have a daily curfew from 8pm to 6am.

The case has been adjourned to the 9th of next month.
