Tupou Draunidalo resigns as NFP President and Member of Parliament

National Federation Party’s President Tupou Draunidalo has resigned from the party and as a member of NFP in Parliament.

NFP’s Leader Professor Biman Prasad has confirmed this.

Draunidalo was suspended for the remainder of the term of parliament in March last year after she used offensive words in parliament when Education Minister Doctor Mahendra Reddy was speaking.

The NFP is currently having a meeting to decide on its next step.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament Dr. Jiko Luveni has told Fijivillage that she has received Draunidalo’s resignation.

Luveni says normal process will take place now to select the next NFP member who will get a seat in Parliament.

According to the 2014 General Elections results, Parmod Chand who received 1,014 votes is expected to be the next NFP member eligible for a seat in Parliament.
