Members of the Mineral Resources survey team carrying out tests for the Manohan building

The tremors which were felt by Water Authority of Fiji staff at Manohan building on Wednesday were not caused by an earthquake.

Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, Malakai Finau said they are yet to determine what caused the tremors but their initial findings point to the structure of the building.

He said there may be a need to review the construction process.

A survey team from the Mineral resources department is currently carrying out further tests to confirm whether the structure of the building is still able to withstand earthquake movement.

The Manohan Building chief engineer and the Mineral resources department will release their findings on Tuesday.

400 employees working at the Water Authority of Fiji in Nasinu were sent home on Wednesday after two tremors were experienced.

They are expected to return to work on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the road from the roundabout in Nabua near Asco Motors to the Vesida traffic lights is closed to allow the survey team to carry their work.

Wainivula road in Nasinu is also closed.

These roads will be opened at 6pm.

Motorists are advised to take alternative routes.
