A new winner will be crowned at the 2017 Mana Whey Fiji Coral Coast 7's this afternoon.

Defending champions, Police have been bundled out of the tournament after the side suffered a 19-5 loss against First Light Taveuni.

Lemeki Tulele, Josefa Moceiwai, Aletesio Vakarorogo and Emosi Vucago put up a good performance for Taveuni to steal the win from Police.

Taveuni’s Manager, Qiolele Moresio says this is a big achievement for them as most of his players have just been playing in Vanua Levu.

Moresio also told Fijivillage that his players are under a strict diet program.

Army will face Wardens while First Light Taveuni will take on Crows Nest Yasawa in the cup semi-finals this afternoon at Lawaqa Park.

Army defeated Yamacia 17-nil in the first cup quarter-final.

Kelemete Koroidimuri and Alasio Naduva were instrumental for Army who got two important tries in the first-half.

Wardens also put up a dominant performance and thrashed Uluinakau 29-12 in the second cup quarter-final. Wardens led 10-5 at half time.

Crows Nest Yasawa came from behind to beat and Ratu Filise 17-15 in the third quarter-final.

Ratu Filise was reduced to five men in the second half due to ill-discipline and Yasawa took the opportunity to pile points.

The cup semis will start at 2.45pm while the cup final will be played at 4.30pm and you can catch the live commentaries of these matches on our sister station, Viti FM.
