South Africa are the 2016 Dubai 7s champions after beating the Vodafone Fiji 7s 26-14 in the final early this morning.
Playing with the new time system of 7 minutes each half in the final, South Africa scored two quick tries in the first half before captain Osea Kolinisau hit back with 30 seconds left to score Fiji's first try.
Fiji was trailing 7-14 at halftime.
The national side started the second half well with a try to Jerry Tuwai but the Blitzboks kept their defensive line speed to isolate the Fiji team that led two tries to Chris Dry and Seabelo Senatla.
The next leg will now be at Cape Town next weekend.
