The search for a 3yr-old boy who went missing while playing near the Sigatoka River bank yesterday afternoon continues today.

Police say the victim had accompanied his father and two relatives out fishing when he went missing.

A search was conducted however turned out negative.

In a separate alleged drowning case, the body of a 19yr-old student was recovered from the Vunicuicui River yesterday afternoon.

Police say the victim was allegedly trying to cross the river with friends when he disappeared.

A search was conducted whereby his body was later recovered.

In a third reported case of drowning, a 6yr-old student who was last seen swimming in the Labasa River near Nacula Village was found motionless last Friday.

People are urged to take SWIMMING lessons to reduce the risk of drowning.

Police say the victim was last seen swimming with her two elder brothers when she disappeared.

A post mortem has been conducted with the cause of death confirmed to be drowning.

The drowning toll currently stands at 26 compared to 21 for the same period last year.
