Another shocking alleged suicide case involving a student has been recorded in Fiji again highlighting the need for everyone to reach out to those who can help them if they are facing problems.
In the latest case, a 13-year-old boy is alleged to have taken his own life in Wailoku.
Police confirm that the victim was discovered by his mother on Saturday night outside their home in Wailoku after allegedly taking his own life.
Earlier in the day the boy was allegedly scolded for damaging a phone.
In the another case a Year 13 student at a Tailevu boarding school was found by a caretaker inside the girl’s dormitory bathroom last month.
Police say that investigators had gathered information whereby it is alleged the victim was dealing with personal issues which may have led to the unfortunate incident.
Last month Fiji recorded three suicides and all the cases involved students.
Police say to date there has been 83 suicide cases compared to 79 for the same period last year and members of public are being asked to share their problems and learn to reach out when in need.
There have been 79 attempted suicide cases compared to 81 for the same period last year.
It has been stressed that there are NGOs and religious organisations that specialize in counselling as well as many other services available instead of resorting to such drastic measures to deal with your problems.
