Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama has urged the members of the Tailevu Provincial Council to stop believing some stories that have been posted on Facebook.

While opening the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting in Nakelo today, Bainimarama told the leaders that there have been a lot of conflicts which has started from lies and things that were posted on Facebook.

The Prime Minister says this is not part of our culture.

He adds that the government is not only the government for the people in Tailevu but for all the provinces and the whole of Fiji.

Bainimarama says that people should be careful of what they hear from politicians who will try and please the people.

He adds that one of the main issues that has been targeted is the lie that i-taukei land is not secure.

Under the constitution, no itaukei land can be sold. Any changes to the constitution requires 75% of support of members in parliament and 75% of support of the total number of registered voters in Fiji through a referendum.

Bainimarama told the people of Tailevu to be firm as government is working on improving people’s lives and will continue to develop the lives of Fijians around the country.
