As only a few weeks remain for the International Labour Organization to decide on whether there will be a Commission of Inquiry into Fiji, there is now confirmation that an extended Employment Relations Advisory Board or ERAB will meet this week.

Acting Prime Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the board which only consists of the government, Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation and Fiji Trades Union Congress will have more stakeholders.

Sayed-Khaiyum also says the government has also made the necessary amendments to its laws that meet the core ILO requirements.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the government has recommenced direct union fees deductions for civil servants who are union members and brought in the changes as required.

He says the unions and employers need to work together.

FTUC General Secretary, Felix Anthony says he does not expect a joint report to the ILO as the FTUC does not agree that the government has fully complied with the agreement.

Anthony says he has no idea on the extension of the Employment Relations Advisory Board.

Anthony does not agree that the amendments made by government have fulfilled the ILO requirements.
