A 56-year-old woman who is charged with one count of abortion will appear in the Nausori Magistrates Court tomorrow.
The woman from Nausori is alleged to have committed the offence on a 22-year-old woman of Taveuni after she was allegedly paid by the victim’s husband earlier this month.
The victim was left by her husband in the care of the accused before he returned to Taveuni.
Police were alerted about the incident by medical authorities after the 22-year-old woman was admitted at the CWM Hospital after suffering complications following the procedure.
Investigations continue with regards to the claims made against the victim’s husband who allegedly paid the 56-year-old woman $200 to perform the procedure.
