A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to 17 years imprisonment for rape, aggravated burglary and theft by the Suva High Court.

In the early hours of the 11th February 2011, Isei Korodrau entered a house in the central division, raped a 29 year old woman and escaped with cash and household items.

While sentencing him, High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo told Korodrau that he showed no mercy to the complainant while offending against her.

Justice Temo said Korodrau deliberately took what was not his, he had no regard to the complainant as a human being.

He added that Korodrau caused the complainant much miseries and financial loss.

Justice Temo told Korodrau that he has to pay for his misdeeds with loss of his liberty.

He hopes Korodrau will not complain because his sentence will meet the injustices he caused to the complainant.

Korodrau will be liable to apply for parole after spending 16 years imprisonment.
