Health Minister Rosy Akbar says it will be a dream come true when Fiji starts doing kidney transplants.
Akbar believes this could be made possible through a public-private partnership for the hospitals in Ba and Lautoka.
She also says work on the National Kidney Hub is a bit delayed after issues with the land that was identified for the hub.
Opposition Leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa then asked the Minister if the government will reduce the cost of consumables for dialysis treatment.
Akbar says they do not want to compromise the dialysis treatment by getting cheap and sub-standard consumables.
She maintains that all efforts should continue to ensure that people try to take on all preventatives measures when it comes to kidney diseases.
