Former Fiji 7s player Isake Katonibau has been remanded in custody by Suva Magistrate Waleen George.
He is charged with one count of serious assault.
Katonibau is alleged to have assaulted a police officer on Sunday.
It is alleged that the police officer came across a group of men fighting in Suva on Sunday.
It is also alleged that the officer saw Katonibau in the group and approached to stop them and while trying to stop them Katonibau allegedly punched the officer twice on his mouth.
Magistrate George said that assaulting a police officer is a serious offence.
She also said that this is not the first time that Katonibau has been brought to court.
Katonibau was previously taken to court for assault and damaging property charges.
The case has been adjourned to next Monday.
