Police Commissioner, Sitiveni Qiliho.

“I will not condone dirty cops within the institution.“

This stern warning has been made by Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho despite a reduction in complaints and disciplinary offenses against police officers last year.

According to the Police 2016 Crime Analysis Report, there was a 19% decrease in complaints and disciplinary offenses against police officers.

Qiliho says their aim is to reduce complaints against their service delivery and officers by 50% this year.

605 complaints and disciplinary offences against police officers were recorded last year.

Meanwhile, the Force recorded a four percent reduction in the overall crime rate last year.

The Western Division was the only area which recorded an increase in crime last year which was by 16%.

Qiliho says there was a 6% decrease in crimes against women and a 3% reduction in crimes against children.

There were 889 male and 80 female perpetrators of children and 132 of the offenders were related to the victims.

The youngest child victim last year was a 3-month-old baby.
