New fuel prices for Motor Spirit, Premix, Kerosene, Diesel and LPG gasses have increased and will come into effect next Monday.

Motor Spirit prices increased from $1.89 to $2.03 per litre, an increase of 14 cents per litre, Premix has increase from $1.75 to $1.89 per litre, an increase of 14 cents per litre.

Kerosene prices increased by 19 cents from $1.30 to $1.49 while Diesel has increased by 16 cents from $1.55 to $1.71.

Minister for Tourism and Trade Faiyaz Koya says that the new petroleum prices are mainly determined by unfavourable movement in the international prices for all petroleum products experienced in the last quarter.

Koya has also revealed in a Press Conference that a 4.5kg cylinder of LPG has increased from $12.58 to $14.43 which is an increase of $1.85.

A 12kg Cylinder of LPG has increased from $33.55 to $38.48, an increase of $4.93, a bulk from $2.38 per kg to $2.78 per kg which is an increase of 34 cents, while auto gas has increased from $1.58 to $1.82 an increase of 24 cents.

Koya says that the new LPG price increase is significantly impacted by the increase in the international butane prices based on the Saudi Aramco Contract prices.

He adds that the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission will conduct the next fuel and LPG price review on 15th April 2018.
