Heart International Limited has been officially opened in Namaka, Nadi last night which is first of its kind to set‑up advanced heart treatment facility in Fiji.
The state of the art and advanced services will provide all the necessary investigations and management of heart treatment in Nadi at a cost.
Cardiologist Dr. Seif El‑Jack who is part of the Heart International says these include Angiograms, Angioplasty, Stenting and other services and patients do not have to go overseas anymore.
He says Fijians should be proud of it given that the equipment is the best in the South Pacific and puts Fiji on par with countries such as Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, UK and Singapore.
Acting Prime Minister and Attorney‑General Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum who was the chief guest at the opening last night highlighted that with the help of entrepreneurs they could possibly set up a foundation which can help people who cannot afford this service.
Fiji born surgeon, Dr Parma Nand who is one of the founders of Friends of Fiji Heart Foundation and is a Senior Cardiothoracic Surgeon in Auckland is a co‑founder of Heart International Limited as part of a long-held dream of comprehensive cardiac services in Fiji.
He says it had always been his vision to bring the best of heart treatment to Fiji and make it affordable to most Fijians.
