Caines Jannif Limited warehouse building on fire along Carpenter Street in Raiwai

Firefighters have managed to control the fire at the Caines Jannif Limited Warehouse building along Carpenter Street in Raiwai which also spread to the Tissue Manufacturers Fiji warehouse earlier this afternoon.

More than 10 firefighters fought the blaze which has heavily damaged the Caines Jannif Limited Warehouse building and also the other warehouse rented by Tissue Manufacturers Fiji.

Equipment costing thousands of dollars have also been destroyed.

Tissue Manufacturers Fiji is a tenant of Caines Jannif Limited.

There is still poor visibility along Carpenter Street because of the smoke from the fire.

The National Fire Authority Control Centre received the first call about the fire at 1.56 this afternoon.

Caines Jannif Limited CEO Ikbal Jannif says twelve people were inside the warehouse when the fire started and they were all safely evacuated.

Earlier today, Fijivillage saw four fire trucks run out of water at the scene and had to look for a fire hydrant near the area.

We are yet to get a response from the Chief Fire Officer Qionilau Moceitai on this issue.
