44 year old, Filipe Kepa appeared in the Sigatoka Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon charged with three counts of rape and one count of pornographic activity for offences allegedly committed against a 17-year-old.
Filipe Kepa allegedly raped the 17-year-old on three different occasions between 2013 to 2015.
Kepa has been granted bail by Magistrate Tomasi Bainivalu however he is still in custody as he needs a suitable surety to sign off documents to be released.
His lawyer, Faizal Koya applied for bail.
The police prosecution objected to it however bail was granted.
The case will be called again on the 2nd of November in the Lautoka High Court.
According to the bail conditions, Filipe Kepa is not to reside in the same area as the victim, and is to report to the Valelevu Police Station 4 days a week and has to surrender all his travel documents.
Police Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Henry Brown said that the 44-year-old man is alleged to have participated in recording pornographic material when the victim was 15-years-old.
Fijivillage has received information that Kepa is also under investigation for other alleged rape cases.
A number of videos were allegedly discovered in his hard drive which was recovered by police during the investigation.
