FijiFirst secures 32 out of the 50 Parliament Seats

The FijiFirst Party will form the next government as it has secured 32 out of the 50 seats in the new parliament.

Fijivillage has also received confirmation that FijiFirst Leader Voreqe Bainimarama will be sworn in as the democratically elected Prime Minister of Fiji after the 2014 general elections at 4pm today by President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.

The final official tally of the 2014 general elections is out with FijiFirst securing 59.2 percent of the total valid votes.

The FijiFirst Party has a final tally of 293,714 votes.

Bainimarama secured 202,459 of the total FijiFirst votes. 

He secured 70 percent of the votes for FijiFirst.

The 32 FijiFirst parliamentarians are Voreqe Bainimarama, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Praveen Bala, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, Doctor Mahendra Reddy, Ruveni Nadalo, Pio Tikoduadua, Joeli Cawaki, Osea Naiqamu, Sanjit Patel, Brij Lal, Timoci Natuva, Viam Pillay, Doctor Jiko Luveni, Inia Seruiratu, Lorna Eden, Balmindar Singh, Vijay Nath, Semi Koroilavesau, Jioji Konrote, Samuela Vunivalu, Doctor Neil Sharma, Netani Rika, Alifereti Nabulivou, Mereseini Vuniwaqa, Alvick Maharaj, Rosy Sofia Akhbar, Jone Usamate, Iliesa Delana, Ashneel Sudhakar, Faiyaz Koya and Veena Bhatnagar.

The Social Democratic Liberal Party has a final tally of 139,857 votes which is 28.2 percent of the total votes.

They have 15 seats in parliament and will be part of the opposition.

The 15 seats for SODELPA have gone to Ro Teimumu Kepa, Niko Nawaikula, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, Mosese Bulitavo, Ratu Viliame Tagivetaua, Anare Vadei, Viliame Gavoka, Semesa Karavaki, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, Ratu Sela Nanovo, Ro Kiniviliame Kiliraki, Ratu Isoa Tikoca, Salote Radrodro, Aseri Radrodro and Jiosefa Dulakiverata.

The National Federation Party has 27,066 votes and it has 5.5 percent of the votes.

They have secured three seats in parliament and will also be in the opposition.

The seats parliamentary seats for NFP go to Doctor Biman Prasad, Tupou Draunidalo and Prem Singh.

496,364 valid votes were recorded in the 2014 general elections.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem also thanked the voters while making the announcement as he said that the invalid vote count was 3,714 votes which is 0.75 percent of the total votes cast.

This is the lowest ever invalid vote count in Fiji in a general election.

We have had invalid vote rates at 6.4 percent and even 11 percent in previous elections.

The voter turnout was 83.9 percent in the election.

This is higher than the previous system when we had compulsory voting.

There was 84 percent voter turnout in the Central Division, 84.4 percent in the Western Division, 83.2 percent in the Northern Division and 76.7 percent in the Eastern Division.
