The Fiji Men’s National 7s team has started their Commonwealth Games 7s on a high after thrashing Sri Lanka 63‑5 in their first pool match.
The national side scored nine tries to Sri Lanka’s one as they showed a brilliant defensive effort to shut out Sri Lanka’s attack.
Sevuloni Mocenacagi scored a hat‑trick, Alasio Naduva and Amenoni Nasilasila scored two tries each while the other tries were scored by Semi Kunatani and Paula Dranisinukula.

Fiji was leading 28‑5 at halftime.
Fiji will now face Uganda at 7.53 tonight before facing Wales at 11.33pm in the last pool game.
There will be no quarterfinals as the top four teams will go straight to the semifinals at 1.43pm tomorrow and the Commonwealth 7s final will kick off at 5.04pm tomorrow.
In other matches earlier today, Australia beat Samoa 24 7, England thrashed Jamaica 38 5, Kenya beat Canada26‑10, New Zealand defeated Zambia 54‑0, Wales beat Uganda 31‑5.
