The Vodafone Fiji 7s side won their first pool game of the Hong Kong 7s after thrashing Samoa 38-12.
Samoa scored the first try from Tofatuimoana Solea before Fiji bounced back to score three tries to lead 21-7 in the first half.
The national side got off to a slow start before breaking the deadlock in the fourth minute with the first try from rover Savenaca Rawaca.
In the fifth minute, lanky forward Semi Kunatani scored the second try while Jerry Tuwai crossed over for their third try on the stroke of halftime.
Debutant Josaia Wini scored two tries after coming on to replace Pio Tuwai in the second half.
France based wing Samisoni Viriviri was also outstanding as he set up three tries and scored one.
Fiji will now face Belgium at 5.46pm today and then take on Canada at 9.48pm in their last pool match.
Looking at some other results, New Zealand beat Scotland 26-7, South Africa thrashed Argentina 24-0, USA beat Kenya 21-14 and Australia beat Portugal 33-5.
The HK 7s Cup quarterfinals will start at 2.58pm tomorrow, the semis will start at 7.46pm while the Cup final will kick off at 11pm tomorrow.
