The Vodafone Fiji 7s side has qualified for the semifinals of the Hong Kong 7s after defeating England 14-12 in a nail biting quarterfinal today.

Fiji controlled their line of defense well to counter the strong English side as the two teams produced an exciting game.

England scored the first try from Phil Burgess but failed to add the conversion before Pio Tuwai set up a brilliant try, offloading in the tackle before hitting the ground, for Jerry Tuwai underneath the post.

Fiji led 7-5 at half time.

In the second half, a penalty try was given to Fiji after Dan Norton failed to release Samisoni Viriviri while making a tackle on the try line in the corner.

Meanwhile, Semi Kunatani could miss the semifinal after being yellow carded for a high tackle on Phil Burgess.

Fiji will face South Africa in the Cup semifinals after South Africa beat Australia 7-5 in the second Cup quarterfinal.

In the other Cup semifinal, Samoa will meet New Zealand.

Samoa beat USA 26-15 and New Zealand beat Argentina 31-21 in their quarterfinals.

The Hong Kong 7s Cup semifinals will start at 7.46pm while the Cup final will kick off at 11pm today.
