The Vodafone Fiji 7s defeated Russia 31‑5 in the Challenge Trophy quarter-final in the second day London 7s tournament.
Fiji started off well with tries to Jerry Tuwai, Samu Bale and Josua Vakurunabili which left them leading the first half 12‑0.
Russia’s first try came in the 8th minute from Vladislav Sozonov.
Waisea Nacuqu who came off the bench in the second half defeated two Russian players to the try line to score a double for Fiji putting them to a 19‑5 lead.
Offloading skills from Jerry Tuwai and Kalione Nasoko created a last minute try for Fiji as they defeated Russia.
Speaking after Fiji’s game from Twickenham Park, Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber says he has a huge challenge ahead of him.
Baber says that they plan to progress from where they are.
Fiji will take on Kenya at 12.20am in the Challenge Trophy semifinal.
Meanwhile in the Cup semis, USA will take on Scotland at 1.48am while England will play Canada at 2.10am.
The medal final will kick off at 4.57am Monday.
