Army Commander, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto says they are now trying to get the Fiji Navy vessel, RFNS Kiro off the reef near Makuluva however all attempts so far have been unsuccessful.
The navy vessel is still on the reef, Belcher Rocks near Makuluva.
Naupoto confirms that the vessel is taking in water and there is damage to the hull.
However they need to make a thorough assessment.
The vessel ran aground on Friday morning.
Another salvage attempt will be carried out on Thursday.
Defence Minister, Timoci Natuva says he has directed the RFMF Commander to brief Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama on the RFNS Kiro running aground near Makuluva.
Both Naupoto and Natuva confirm that a board of inquiry will be set up soon to carry out a full investigation.
Natuva says this is shameful news for the navy.
He says the ship is equipped with modern technology and should not have run aground.
The RFNS Kiro is used to patrol the Fiji waters. It normally has a crew of 17.
