Vodafone Fiji 7s team interim coach Nacani Cawanibuka says they have worked on their defence and will not take any pool opponents lightly in this weekend’s Cape Town 7s.
Fiji lost in the Cup quarterfinal to France last year and Cawanibuka says it will be game by game for them as they will focus on their pool opponents Japan, Kenya and then France.
Cawanibuka named a strong side for the Cape Town 7s.
The 12 players that will be aiming to win the tournament are Captain Osea Kolinisau, Jasa Veremalua, Kitione Taliga, Jerry Tuwai, Masivesi Dakuwaqa, Sevuloni Moceinacagi, Josua Vici, Samisoni Viriviri, Joeli Lutumailagi, Kalione Nasoko, Emosi Mulevoro and Setareki Bituniyata.
There are 2 changes from the team that lost the final in Dubai with Nemani Nagusa and Waisea Nacuqu making way for Vici and Emosi Mulevoro.
Nemani Nagusa will be the 13th player who will be on standby.
Fiji will play Japan at 11.05pm today, they will then play Kenya at 2.26am tomorrow and Fiji’s final pool match is against France at 6.12am tomorrow.
The Cup quarterfinals will begin at 11.04pm tomorrow, the semifinals will start at 3.34am Monday and the final will be played at 6.44am Monday.
