The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has won their first pool match of the Cape Town 7s defeating Japan 33-7.
Fiji scored a total of five tries from Jerry Tuwai, Setareki Bituniyata, Jasa Veremalua, Joeli Lutumailagi and Kitione Taliga.
The national side was leading 12-7 in the first half as Japan crossed over for the first try.
Fiji's defence was tested by the Japanese but they came back strongly in the second half to maintain their defensive line and scored three tries.
Fiji will now take on Kenya at 2.26am tomorrow while their final pool match is against France at 6.12am tomorrow.
The Cup quarterfinals will begin at 11.04pm tomorrow, the semifinals will start at 3.34am Monday and the final will be played at 6.44am Monday.
