The victorious Fiji Mens 7s team and the Team Fiji contingent from Rio have arrived at the Nadi International Airport.

The sevens gold medal winning team with other athletes are now heading to Prince Charles Park where the welcome ceremony will take place.

Fiji flags are flying high in Nadi as thousands of people have already lined up at various spots in Nadi as a number of banners have been put up in Nadi as well.

Nadi’s Prince Charles Park is already filled with hundreds of people and many have come in the blue and white attire with their Fiji flag.

People are dancing and singing songs as they await the arrival of their heroes.

There is also huge presence of security personnel at various spots in Nadi.

Our team in Nadi caught up with Deve Wakili who came all the way from Dawara, Savusavu with his three children to get the first glimpse of our national 7's heros.

Wakili says this is a historic moment for Fiji and he and his family wants to be part of it.

He says they are excited to be one of the first Fijians in Fiji to meet and greet the Fiji 7's side after winning Fiji’s first ever Gold Medal.

Wakili adds they do not want to meet the players in Suva or any other place but to meet them as they arrive.

He says the whole purpose why his family is at Nadi at the moment is because of the players and they will be heading back to Savusavu tomorrow.

The welcome ceremony will take place at Prince Charles Park.

Fans await for the arrival of the Fiji 7s team at Prince Charles Park.

The team bus will go through Votualevu roundabout to Namaka, Namotomoto village and go straight to Prince Charles Park.

A traditional welcome ceremony will be carried out by the people of Sabeto and an inter-faith thanksgiving service will also take place in Nadi.

There is time allocated for families and fans to meet the players.

The team will then depart Prince Charles Park at about 4 to 4.30pm today.

They will then board the flight from Nadi Airport to come to Nausori.

Only our gold medal winning Fiji 7s team will come along Kings Road from Nausori to Suva this afternoon. They will leave Nausori Airport at about 5.45 this afternoon.

The Fiji 7's team bus will travel to Suva through King’s road and will go through 8 miles in Nasinu, past Rishikul Sanatan College in Valelevu, Centerpoint junction at four miles and past Nabua. The bus will then divert to Rewa Street in Samabula beside the BSP Bank.

The bus will travel down to flagstaff, turn right to Bau Street into McGregor Road and will go through Thurston Street to the Grand Pacific Hotel.

The 7s team will stay at GPH for the night.

On the special 7s victory holiday tomorrow, the Olympic Gold Medal victory celebrations will be held at the ANZ Stadium.

The stadium gates will open at 8.30am.

Our gold medal winning team will leave in a vehicle from GPH in a march in a convoy with a band accompanying them at 9.30am Monday.

This will start from the Suva Flea Market, through to Victoria Parade, turn left at Thurston Street, on to McGregor Road, Bau Street, then to Laucala Bay Road and to the ANZ Stadium.
